Biography
Teresa De Gennaro is a trained actor/singer who graduated from Flinders’ University of South Australia in 2000. Teresa has since worked professionally in a range of mediums and genres. From a Television Drama Soap, Comedy skit series to commercials, short and feature films. Stage wise she has juggled straight theatre, live improvisational comedy, physical and children’s theatre including musical theatre and Cabaret. She is a mezzo-soprano with a strong belt and a versatile voice that encompasses pop/rock, classical, soul, gospel & jazz. Her top range is C Legit, E Belt and a D in her low range.

Within her first year of graduation Teresa received the State Theatre’s ‘Adele Koh’ acting scholarship. Some of Australia’s most reputable theatrical and television companies can now be credited to Teresa’s CV: Playbox, Vitalstatistix, Windmill Performing Arts, The Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, Grayboy Productions, Skeed Ent., Opera Australia, Millenium Ent., Banksia Productions and SBS.

Teresa’s second scholarship helped boost her development as a Cabaret Artist. She has written many shows and visited Sydney’s major Cabaret Venues including The Basement, various corporate functions and club circuit venues. Included were performances at the penultimate Sydney Cabaret Festival and at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, where she faced two consecutive years of sold out performances.

Voyaging overseas Teresa worked as both production vocalist and cabaret singer, ocean cruising throughout the South Pacific and East Mediterranean. She then relocated to London where she worked with theatre company Byzantine to deliver the roles of Shakespeare’s Portia and Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. Teresa then toured as lead in her first British Pantomime and spent time on the road with Barbara Evans’ Sweeny Todd. She also had the opportunity to support the Barron Knights. While in the UK she sang in the corporate arena for Stuart Wood Productions and acted in the feature film Patient 17 in which we are waiting for the release. Before returning to the land of OZ Teresa completed a West End and Brighton tour of a Musical theatre revue, Encore.

Throughout the years Teresa has also been an acting, singing/vocal tutor in youth theatres, schools, casting agencies, Universities and NIDA.

Most recently Teresa has worked in Adelaide for On The Fly impro group and played Muriel in Why Muriel Matters which is programmed to tour within the year. At present Teresa is in rehearsals for EURODIVA, a cabaret show sung in 10 different languages premiering at the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
